Salary: £65,000 - £70,000 + 30% Bonus
Location: Birmingham / Hybrid

A new and fantastic opportunity to onboard a permanent Azure Data Engineer to join this organisations Business Change & Technology team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer to share their expertise and also influence their data mission, therefore if you are particularly passionate about supporting stakeholders to help understand data through exploration this role could be perfect for you.


The Opportunity – Azure Data Engineer
As a subject matter expert, you will:

  • Pro-actively design, build and optimise pipelines that store code and deploy solutions using Azure DevOps
  • Ingest, process and model data and support to take raw data and turn it into sound business insights
  • The ability to automate tasks and deploy production standard code (with unit testing, continuous integration, versioning etc.)
  • Data Modelling & strong analytics skills in Analytics.
  • Solution design using Microsoft Azure services and other tools.
  • Make use of coding languages such as C#, Python, R, SQL or PowerShell to develop solutions.
  • Work with multiple different file types and formats such as JSON, XML, Parquet, CSV.
  • Implement security to ensure data can be accessed appropriately based on ACL and or RBAC.
  • Enable a Lambda Architecture and develop solutions that support fast and slow moving data.
  • Work in partnership with our Architecture community to bring technology to life in-line with our technology strategy and architectural plans and roadmaps
  • Enable our mission to ingest, store, cleanse, model and transform data for Insights Machine Learning models, dashboard and reports
  • Assure that data is cleansed, mapped, transformed, and otherwise optimised for storage and use according to business and technical requirements
  • Ensure data is catalogued and appropriately labelled according to our Information Classification policy.
  • Ensure alignment with GDPR and PCI standards where appropriate.
  • Use knowledge of API Management tools and techniques to develop API proxies and make use of out of the box functionality to quickly add value, build composite api’s and enable data consumption

  • To be an expert in your field, with solid experience in a hands on technical Data Engineer role, using Azure Data Factory, DevOps, Storage & Data lake, or the equivalent to
  • Highly self‐motivated, self‐directed, and attentive to detail
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Experience of developing and integrating with JSON and REST API’s
  • High calibre of communication skills, written and verbal
