As a Fiber Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of fibre-optic networks to deliver high-speed internet, voice, and video services directly to residential homes.

Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fiber Engineer with a strong focus on FTTH (Fiber to the Home) for a contract role based in Glasgow. As a Fiber Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of fibre-optic networks to deliver high-speed internet, voice, and video services directly to residential homes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and plan FTTH network architecture, including the layout of fibre cables, OLT placement, and ONU distribution.
- Select and procure the necessary FTTH networking equipment and materials, ensuring optimal network performance.
- Perform capacity planning to meet the current and future demands of residential subscribers.
- Oversee and quality-check the installation of fibre-optic cables and associated hardware.
- Conduct optical testing, including OTDR testing, to ensure that connections meet performance standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, ensuring high levels of uptime and reliability.
- Maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations related to FTTH networks.
- Collaborate with equipment vendors and suppliers to source necessary hardware and materials.
- Provide technical support to customers, assisting with complex technical issues as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in designing and implementing FTTH networks, with a strong focus on residential deployments.
- In-depth knowledge of fibre-optic technology, including fibre types, optical splitters, and related equipment.
- Proficiency in network design and capacity planning.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including Fiber to the Home Council (FTTH Council) recommendations.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Project management experience is a plus.
