Senior Software Engineer - Kotlin, Elasticsearch – Berlin

Senior software engineer with strong experience using Kotlin is sort after by a tech for good start-up based in Berlin. They are building software to revolutionise their industry with 2 main goals:
1) Fix an industry which, in their view, is broken
2) Make the world a better (and healthier) place

Their product has already won multiple awards leading to some really healthy investment (beating some big competition to secure it) which is why they are one of Germany’s top start-ups to watch!

Responsibilities include:

clean (and well documented) code which is easy to maintain
a scalable search engine using Kotlin & Elasticsearch optimising the performance
closely with the rest of the team to understand the requirements, share knowledge and review code
similarity search functionalities for a range of input types (text, images and other vectors)

Required skills/experience:

least 3 years’ experience with similar tech/products
experience in development with Kotlin (other JVM languages can be considered e.g. Scala)
understanding of search engine architecture and scalable concepts
experience
problem-solving and analytical skills
communication skills (fluent in English is a must)
