Key daily tasks involve:Driving and improving database and schema design, creation, and testing activities, also including the evaluation and recommendation of suitable cloud-hosted database technologies and types, and also the improvement of existing database and data store performance.Deploying, supporting and also administering SQL and NoSQL database instances in the production, staging and development environments.Overall responsibility for database availability and performance, including incident and problem management, security and auditing, logging, and defining and implementing monitoring, alerting and regular reporting on potential database performance or integrity issues.Performing database housekeeping tasks (such as performance tuning, indexing, query optimisations etc.) in collaboration with the Software Engineering Teams.Designing and implementing best-of-breed data backup, restoration, recovery, storage and archiving strategies.Creating and maintaining database standards, policies, SOPs and security standards.Working with the third-party database managed service provider to plan, orchestrate, and coordinate database upgrades, migrations and maintenance, and to plan and execute schema and data migrations in a 24x7 live production environment. Skills and experience needed:Degree level education within computing or relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.Extensive technical experience in MySQL database administration and management, with AWS database services including RDS and Aurora.Extensive technical experience with NoSQL cloud-based database solutions in AWS (e.g. DynamoDB, MongoDB etc.).Solid understanding of replication and clustering high-availability techniques and technologies.Hands-on management and administration of databases focussing on maintaining performance, integrity, replication, upgrades, migration and security.Extensive query / performance optimisation experience.Experience in database environment life cycle management and support of production, staging and development environments.Strong experience with HashiCorp Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and shell scripting skills.Strong experience with tools to assess the health of database systems like AWS Performance Insights, AWS CloudWatch or DataDog. Key Duties in the role: Working collaboratively with project team, Business Analysts and BI Team to develop new and refined the teams business reports.Define test requirements and approach for the various report-groupsWork with business stakeholders to achieve safe transition of reports from the ‘As Is’ to ‘To Be’ requirements in the most efficient way.Ensure data integrity and consistency at all times, and provide robust technical designs.Responsibility for and (to a lesser extent) preparation of necessary technical documentation, including those necessary for support, and technical design documentation to a suitable level for hand-over to BI Team.Working with the BI Technical Manager to set and maintain standards and development practices.Deliver Power BI the full suite of business reports aligned with a common delivery methodology.Working with stakeholders to resolve data / reporting issues through configuration, data cleansing, de-duplication, consolidation and rationalisation of reporting requirements where appropriate.Working with BI Team to ensure that the BI Reports are tuned for optimal performance. Experiance Required:Experience in BI and Analytics related Projects.Hands-on experience in PowerBI, Dashboard development.Investigate and own any data issues to resolution.Maintain best practices for reporting and analysis.Ensure that realistic and achievable timelines are agreed and met for projects undertaken.Ability to analyse the requirements and design the reporting framework covering various aspects.Coordinate with business users to thoroughly understand the business needs, report scope, and anticipated deliverable associated with the data/reporting requirements.Experience working with large and complex data set able to write simple queries to create calculated fields.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Highly efficient in problem solving and trouble shooting skills.Willing to learn/work other technology and have the ability to grasp technical concepts quickly.Good team skills.Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.Strong experience in SQL.
