Wellbeing in the workplace

Back to Blogs

Wellbeing is very important, being in a positive state of mind and being physically healthy is what we aim for throughout our lives. This shouldn't change when it comes to working.

Being well at work and thinking positively about your workplace is crucial. Not only for the employee but also for the employer.

As a recruitment agency, we want to make sure that you are happy with your workplace and that you're in a good place when it comes to your mental and physical health.

The wellbeing of your staff

If you're running a business or you’re an employer of any sort, the wellbeing of your staff is a crucial part of your job.

You may think that mental and physical health is a personal matter but the truth is, your employee's wellbeing will reflect their performance at work.

It is very important that as a job provider you ensure that all your staff are happy, whether it's something to do with work or at home.

Being able to provide a safe and open environment for your employees will help them tackle problems without affecting their work.

If you find yourself in a situation where someone is unhappy or has issues at work. Provide them with all the help you can. If it's a home issue, suggest time off work, or cutting down hours to give them a chance to sort their issues out.

If their issue is connected to work then speak to them. You may find it that helping one person will actually solve issues with people who haven't spoken up yet. Communications and honesty are key!

Employees and work

For those of you who feel like you're unhappy about work or feel like you're not motivated, talk to your HR department or someone trusty at work.

If your issue is work-related, having a chat with your boss can be very helpful, after all, no one is a mindreader and unless you speak about it, the issue is unknown or unclear.

The same thing goes for family issues. Everyone has their ups and downs when it comes to home problems. If you find yourself in a situation where your personal life is interfering with your work, speak to someone about it.

Take some time off work, solve your problems, your health is the most important thing and don't let yourself forget that.

Improving people's wellbeing within the workplace

Here are some things which can improve the overall wellbeing of your staff:

Regular reviews and feedback

Giving people constructive criticism or praising them for something they have done, can improve their self-worth. Being able to tell your staff how they are doing will help them improve and build confidence.

Correct training

Providing the right training for your staff will ensure they are confident in what they are doing, avoiding stress and anxiety.

Feedback opportunity

Give your staff the opportunity to give feedback about the workplace. This will help you narrow down where your business needs to improve but also highlight the things you're doing right.

Someone to speak to

Provide your employees with the right person. Some topics are nicer than others, providing a specialist to handle those conversations can really help with the wellbeing of your employees but also address any issues within the workplace you may have not noticed.
